, HF (W'ton University), FRSA, co-founder and
co-presenter of Surtarang Broadcast on Wolverhampton City
Radio 101.8 WCR FM. While pursuing a fulltime career in
various administrative posts since March 1970, she fulfilled
the role of the General Secretary of Surdhwani from 1987 till
2003 in a voluntary capacity.
She became a Director/Company Secretary of Surdhwani in
2003. She received many awards for her outstanding
voluntary work including Honorary Fellowship of the
University of Wolverhampton in 2002, Fellowship of the Royal
Society of Arts in 2005, "Glory of India" (2008) and "Gem of
India" (2009) awards from Indian International Friendship
Society (IIFS).
She was also nominated for UK's "Woman of the Year 2008".
United Minds For Peace Society, an organisation in Kolkata
honoured her in February 2010 with an award of the "World
Peace Music Promoter Award" for her outstanding voluntary
international work for the promotion of Indian classical
music in the European countries and for her contribution to
world peace through music over the last thirty years.
More recently, in September 2010 IIFS conferred on her the
"Global Indian Achiever's Award" & Certificate of Excellence.
In the Indian context it recognized her as proactive and
instrumental in strengthening the Indo - British ties and
encouraging foreign investments in Indian projects and thus,
contributing to the economic growth of India.
Her role in Surtarang consists of carrying out the
administrative work that includes marketing and publicity.
